You’ve got three main choices, much like jackets: leather, textile, and reinforced riding jeans. Leather is the gold standard for track days and aggressive sport riding due to its incredible sliding protection. Textile pants are the ultimate 'all-rounders,' often being waterproof and ventilated for long trips. Riding jeans are perfect for those who want a casual look without sacrificing safety, as they hide their protective layers on the inside.

These are a total game-changer for urban riders! On the outside, they look and feel just like your favorite pair of casual denim. However, the interior is reinforced (either fully or in high-impact zones) with ultra-strong, heat-resistant fabrics like Kevlar or Aramid. This hidden layer is what prevents the pavement from reaching your skin during a slide while keeping you looking stylish off the bike.

They need to be snug, but you should still be able to comfortably throw your leg over the saddle. The most critical detail is the armor placement: when you're standing, the knee pads might feel a bit low, but they should sit perfectly over your kneecaps once you're in the riding position.
